Valentine's Day @ the Biscuit

Nice Shirt...

The shirt this man is wearing says "If I throw a stick will you leave?". Cute shirt, huh? Even cuter that he decided to wear it in his Engagement Announcement photo!!!

My Valentine

"If you are lucky, you will find someone who is good at what you are not, and compliments what you lack. If you are very lucky, they will love you in return."

A Rude Awakening

Friday morning, around 2:30am, I heard a knock on the door. It wasn't the normal sound of knocking-- as if a neighbor was stopping by to say hello. It was an insistent pounding, followed by a ring of the doorbell and then a few more knocks. There was a moment of silence, and then a repeat of the knocking/ doorbell ringing. I got out of bed and looked out the window. I saw a police car. My mind began to race-- were they here to notify me that someone had died? Were they looking for Michael? Maybe he's wanted by the law and I don't know it?? I got dressed and went to the front door just as the officer was pounding on it with his flashlight for the final time. When I opened the door, he told me that he had a complaint from a neighbor 2 streets away about my dog's barking. Well, I hadn't heard a thing-- I was in lala land brought on by my regular dosage of Tylenol PM earlier in the night. In my bedroom, I had a vaporizer going and Michael was watching an episode of "Charmed" on DVD. I wouldn't have heard a train if it went through my backyard. Anyway... the only dog outside was Clara. Apparently she had found a possum, or saw a cat or something and she was barking. She wasn't alone, though. The dogs in the yard behind me were howling, the dogs across the street were yelping too. Something was going on and all of the neighborhood dogs were talking about it. I apologized to the officer, but explained that there really wasn't anything I could do to stop her if she was barking. As long as the neighbor dogs were barking, she would join in. I explained that Clara was a special case and how I've had her for years and never touched her. Bringing her inside was not an option-- petting her to calm her down was out of the question. The officer told me that I needed to do something to manage my dog and if I couldn't manage her, I needed to call Fulton County Animal Control and let them "take care of her".

I wanted to explain that Clara has lived in my backyard for almost 5 years and that this was the first complaint I've ever received- but all I did was apologize and go back to bed. I considered calling Animal Control. Maybe they could come out and catch her. Maybe it would be better if she weren't around-- I wouldn't have to constantly worry about her getting pregnant again.

I woke up with a clearer head and I didn't call Animal Control. I figure every dog should get a chance to howl at least once every 5 years. Last night was a sleepless night for me-- I laid awake listening for Clara's bark. She didn't make a sound all night. Hopefully it was a one time thing--- and hopefully my neighbor caught up on a good night's sleep.

Prom Pic

I love this picture of us from the prom. However, when I see this picture, I'm reminded of the show "Touched by an Angel"-- at the end of each episode, Monica would reveal to someone that she was really an angel and she would start to glow as she said something like "the Lord loves ye, and looks after ye". When I see this picture I feel like I'm already glowing and about to start spouting scriptures in Irish! Nice picture anyway!!!
P.S. My brother Joel has some alternative names for that show: "Touched by an Uncle", and "Touched at an Angle".

Weekend to Remember

I can't believe that the prom has come and gone already. After all of the months of planning, scheming and coniving, we actually pulled it off and it was a huge success! I don't know if this will be an annual event or not, but it would be kind of a cool tradition for East Point to have an adult prom each year.

It was really nice to see how well our little gang cleans up! I have to brag that I had the best looking date at the prom, too!

Many thanks go to the small committee that gave their time, blood, sweat, energy and money to pull this thing off. It will be a memory that I will never forget!

Holding it Together Somehow!

This week has been a total blur! I've been sick since last weekend. I started having troubles with my mouth earlier in the week-- bleeding gums, soreness, etc. I couldn't eat much for a couple of days. I kept silent about it and just kept the pain to myself. By Wednesday I couldn't take it anymore. I called my dentist and described the problem. He asked if I had eaten anything new in the past few days-- maybe I was having a reaction to something. I couldn't think of anything new, exciting or exotic. He prescribed some antibiotics and said it should clear up in a couple of days. Later in the evening, I was having another coughing fit. Michael asked if I wanted to use some more of his Zicam oral spray. As I sprayed the Zicam in my mouth, it hit me. That was the new thing! I've been spraying the inside of my mouth with the Zicam for a few days to help with the coughing and the sinuses-- apparantly I'm allergic to the only medicine that seemed to be helping with my other symptoms-- add another allergy to the list. I swear I was never allergic to anyting when I was younger-- now it seems that I'm allergic to almost every kind of medicine. I'm a freak of nature! The mouth has gotten better now-- it's still a little sore, but I've been able to eat and that's a good thing! Now if I could just take care of the coughing, sneezing, etc.

We picked up Michael's tux from the alterations place yesterday-- it looked great. He's lost 30 pounds since the last time he wore it, so it needed a lot of work. They did a great job! I wasn't so fortunate. I also went to pick up my tux yesterday. I love the tux, but the pants were a little too long. They were supposed to alter it last night and I can pick it up today after 1pm. Hopefully they got it right this time!

I have today off from work. Michael was supposed to have the day off too and we planned on spending the day trying to get this old house in order. Well, his day off fell through and my list of errands continues to grow longer, so it looks like we won't get anything accomplished around here today. I might try to do some cleaning, arranging and organizing on my own-- the clutter around here is driving me crazy. I'm not necessarily a clean freak, but I do like order and organization. I can't stand chaos and that's how I've been feeling every time I've walked in to the house lately. It'll come together soon-- be patient, Brian!

Welcome to the Family....

My New Toy!

I finally broke down and bought a laptop w/ WiFi!

Home Sweet Home

Well, it's official now-- I'm really part of a couple! After 7 weeks of dating, Michael and I moved in together yesterday! Is it too soon? Maybe. But, I have a good feeling about it.

We spent about 15 hours together yesterday, packing and cleaning his former h0use. Most of his stuff went into storage, but plenty of it came to my house. Er, I mean, "Our house". It will be several days- maybe weeks- before the house will appear to be organized in the least. It all happened pretty quickly and I didn't get a lot of time to prepare much usable space. It will all come together, I'm sure. I don't think I've ever met anyone that had more clothes than I, but I think that with Michael I have met my match! I forsee a lot of trips to the St. John's Bargain Shop to make donation drops. I also invested in several more Space Bags for those clothes that I never wear, but can't seem to part with.

Overall, I believe that this was a good move and I'm excited about being able to spend every day with Michael, in our home sweet home.
