Meeting the Familly

Here's a picture of me with Michael's mother, taken last Thursday night. It was Michael's birthday and he invited her to join us at the Tavern to celebrate. I was a little nervous about meeting the family so soon, but everything went well. I really enjoyed talking to and getting to know his Mom.

On Sunday, we went to his Mom's house for the family celebration of Michael's birthday. I met brothers, sisters, neices, nephews, aunts, cousins, etc. Mrs. Hill cooked lots of great food and we had a really fun time together. Michael's family was great and they welcomed me with open arms. I felt like part of the family.

I'm looking forward to introducing Michael to my family. I don't know when that will be, but I'm sure they will be just as welcoming. Fingers crossed!

Vitruvian Man

I've always been fascinated with Davcinci's work. The "Vetruvian Man " man has always been one of my favorites. After years of thinking about it and studying all of it's meanings, I decided to have it inked onto my leg. Tim at Soutshide Tattoo did a great job and I am very happy with the outcome. I won't say that it was painless though. It took about 3 hours to complete-- I was in total agony the entire time. The calf is a lot more sensitive than I imagined. Several times I thought about stopping the process and finishing it at a later date, but I figured it would be better to just face the pain and get it over with.

This will be my last tattoo... I finally got the one that I always wanted.

The Perfect Snow!

It started snowing here a couple of hours ago. So far, this is the perfect snow storm-- the flakes are accumulating on the grass and cars only!

Biscuits Aren't the Only Things That Fly...

Time flies, too!

I was checking my archives and I noticed a posting on 01/12/07 about my new car! I can't believe that I've had the Sebring for a year now!!! I almost didn't recognize it when I saw the pictures that I posted that day-- I barely remember it being "unwrapped"!

A sign I saw at Fontaines:

Mystery Revealed....

Okay, the cat's out of the bag now, so I'll go ahead and announce it officially. My new boyfriend is Michael Hill. I've known Michael for about 4 years-- we never really got along until recently-- funny how we ended up being attracted to each other after so many years of animosity! Will it last forever? Who knows? I hope so, though. I'm enjoying this feeling day to day at this point! On the days that I don't get to see him, I miss him so much. When we're together, it feels so right. I've got a good feeling about this one. Please support me-- after all of these years, I think I deserve a little happiness!

Random Thoughts

  • I got a new catering client this week. My buddies at GA State gave me a reference to Scientific Atlanta's Training Center. I did a breakfast, lunch and snack for them on Saturday and they called me back to request a dinner for 50 today! In the past three days, they've already spent over $2000 on Biscuit food! Hopefully they wil be a repeat customer in 2008!

  • I had two fun dates over the weekend. Saturday afternoon we went to the new theatre in Camp Creek Marketplace (CCMP). We saw "Charlie Wilson's War" and I really liked it. Julia Roberts continues to be my least favorite actress (I hate that fake Southern accent), but she was only in the movie for 15-20 minutes. The new theatre is nice and I look forward to spending a lot of time there in the future! On Sunday, we went to brunch at Fontaines and then to "Wired & Fired Pottery" in the Highlands. It was a lot of fun painting our pottery. I painted a coffee cup in the most unimaginative way-- solid blue on the outside and solid yellow on the inside. I've been to other pottery studios in the past and I've learned that it's best not to get carried away with the paint and the polka dots and sponge effects. "Less is more" is my motto when it comes to painting pottery.
  • I ran into 2 former Biscuit servers over the weekend. It was good to see them both happy and working elsewhere.
  • We went to kareoke (sp?) Saturday night and out of the blue, my new boyfriend sang one of my favorite Billy Joel love songs. How did he know I loved that song? I didn't sing.
  • My car has 2 functioning tires on it at this point. The rim that was damaged a few weeks ago finally gave way and turned into a flat tire Saturday night. I had a new rim on order, and increased the order to two new rims today. In the meantime, I'm driving a shiny new blue car (a Pontiac?) that I picked up from Alamo yesterday. I should get at least one of the tires/rims back tomorrow and hopefully I can turn in this rental car soon.

Mystery Man

A few days ago, I mentioned that I had had a date. Actually, we've been seeing each other every day and night for over a week now. I'm not comfortable with talking about him or showing pictures of him on my blog yet, though. I'm not ashamed of him or our relationship. I realize that a few people will be shocked when (if) I finally announce it. It's too soon and I don't want to jinx what seems like a good thing! I'm just going to say that I am very very happy right now! We've spent a lot of time together over the past week or so-- and had some pretty terriffic dates, too!

Catering Sales Final Tally

My goal for catering sales in 2007 was $144,000. I ended up selling a little over $166,000!!!! I don't know how I pulled it off, but I did it one egg at a time, one biscuit at a time (as Delia always says!).

My efforts didn't go unnoticed-- I got a couple of emails from our corporate office. No bonus, but lots of praise from a couple of people that I admire. A little gratitude goes a long way!!!

"Final sales for this year are 166,323 !!!!! That's up from 77100 from
06. Brian you rock-thank you so much for all you've done for us.

~Brent McGhee"

"All,

I could not agree more. Brian you've done an unbelievable job growing our catering from $0 three years ago to $166,000 this year, a 209% increase over last year alone! This was our best year ever, and is a direct result of your hard work and dedication. I look forward to another great year in 2008! Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

For the first time in my life, I was actually a little sad when the clock struck midnight on New Year's Eve. I hated to see 2007 end. It was a great year for me; probably about the best in my history. The pieces all finally started falling into place for me in 2007. Who knows what will happen in 2008-- will the pieces still fit together? I'll try to stay positive and hope that 2008 is even better.

I had several options and plans for New Years Day. I didn't do anything that I had planned on doing. I was invited to a friend's house for New Years (sorry I didn't make it, Ginny Tonic!). I was invited to Mom's house for the traditional meal (sorry Mom!).
I had a date instead!

We ended up having lunch at Mary Macs-- I can't think of any better way to celebrate New Year's than eating black-eyed peas and collard greens at Atlanta's most renowned Southern restaurant. Plus, the black-eyed-peas were flowing-- free with every entree! For any non-Southerners out there- we eat black-eyed-peas on New Years Day to bring us luck, and collards to bring us money. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of collard greens, so I substituted cabbage. Hopefully this little substitution won't cost me a lot in 2008!

After lunch we headed to Centennial Park and went ice skating! I haven't skated since I was kid, but it all came back to me as soon as I hit the ice. We skated for 90 minutes and didn't fall down once! People were falling down all around us, but we were able to skate around them every time. It was amazing.

After skating, we grabbed a couple of hot apple ciders and walked the park, in search of that elusive brick with my name on it. We never found it, but I know it's there! Somewhere!!!

Maybe 2008 won't be so bad after all-- it started on a good note!
